Spinal Cord Injuries & Traumatic Brain Injuries
General Respiratory Failure, Muscular Dystrophy, ALS (Lou
Gehrig’s),
Post-Polio, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscle Atrophy
As degenerative diseases are not static, the type of care needed changes continually. An individual in the beginning stages of ALS, for example, may only need a few hours of Home Health Aide services per week, but will likely need 24-hour per day nursing during mid to end-of-disease stages.
What types of service may be required for an individual with a degenerative disease?
- Respiratory Therapy/Ventilator-Tracheotomy Support
- Extended-hour Nursing (RNs and LPNs)
- Wound Care/Skilled Nursing
- Blood Draws/INR
- Dialysis
- Case Management
- Extended-hour Home Health Aide
